Niluka Kavanagh 's Biography

Niluka is a builder, speaker and strategist with an insatiable curiosity for work and life.

She is the Founder and CEO of ImagineThat - the Business School for Nomadic Entrepreneurs. ImagineThat helps professionals start their own high-profit online services business and work from anywhere.

After graduating from Oxford University in English Language and Literature, Niluka started her career in consulting at KPMG UK in London, working with global brands including Tesco, Mastercard, Lloyds and The London Stock Exchange.

Nearly 5 years later, she decided to embark on an experiment - is it possible to work for yourself and work from anywhere?

During this time, Niluka worked on 2 of her own businesses fully remote. She had both an online public speaking business which helped over 500 clients globally and a tech startup which she took to market, growing their user base by over 90%. This was all while she lived in 8+ places across the world, including Valencia, Lisbon, Chiang Mai, Istanbul and Da Nang.

This experience showed Niluka that it IS possible to work for herself and have location freedom - and saw other professionals wanting to do the same, which led her to launch ImagineThat.

From there, Niluka has emerged as a thought leader in the future of work, highlighting the evolution of the traditional workplace. As a speaker, she covers a wide range of topics, from Gen Z’s impact on the workforce and the shifting dynamics of when, where, and how we work, to the rise of solopreneurship and the power of the one-person business.

As well as speaking at conferences and events, Niluka has lectured to leading universities around the world including Edinburgh University, Trinity College Dublin and Somerville College, Oxford.

She has also appeared on numerous podcasts discussing the future of work, from the US to Europe to Australia, and had previous articles published by The World Financial Review and Cambridge University.

Finally, Niluka has a growing online social presence, especially on LinkedIn, as well as Instagram and YouTube, with nearly 10,000 followers combined.
