One of the 21st century’s most brilliant minds: Nick Bostrom is a Swedish-born philosopher with a background in theoretical physics, computational neuroscience, logic, and artificial intelligence. And yes,  Philosophy. Nick is the most-cited professional philosopher in the world under the age of 50. Nick  is the founding director of  Future of Humanity Institute Oxford University where he also teaches.  He has authored over 200 publications, including Anthropic Bias (2002), Global Catastrophic Risks(2008), Human Enhancement (2009). His  Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies (2014),  was a New York Times bestseller and brought question about the Future of AI into global consciousness and spotlight. Professor Nick has also published a series of influential papers, including ones that introduced the  concepts of Simulation Argument (2003) and the concept of Existential Risk (2002). Bostrom’s academic work is available  in over 30 languages. He took the  TED  stage multiple times and gave over one thousand interviews to a range of media platforms. Foreign Policy’s included  Nick Bostrom in their Top 100 Global Thinkers list twice. Nick is the youngest person to have been included in the top 15  in Prospect’s World Thinkers list. It might be hard to envisage but brace yourselves, Prof Bostrom once tried his hand at stand-up comedy. Rest assured he has since found a natural calling in  the heavy gloom of his Swedish roots.
